One method, taught properly

My grandmother kept a photograph of herself in headstand at seventy-two. She had practised the same sequence every morning for four decades and could not tell you the Sanskrit name of a single posture in it.

That is roughly my position on yoga. The method matters; the vocabulary much less. I trained in Italy and then for two long stretches in Chennai, and I teach what I was taught, in the order I was taught it.

Alafonte is one room above a bakery in Turin with fourteen mats and a wooden floor. Classes run in eight-week blocks, and we ask that you commit to the block, because the sequence only makes sense once it repeats.

Beginners are genuinely welcome. Most of our students had never practised before they came.
